Who thinks Strauss is a cheat?
Surely this guy knows the difference between a clean catch and and a dirty one…he’s played cricket long enough to know!

Come on then gobsh*te how is Ponting a cheat?

To my mind Australia play hard and fair.

Yes mate, I do think he is a cheat. He would have known for a 100% fact that part of that ball hit the deck and he still took it. It is clear part touched the ground and therefore no catch – if Ponting saw it at the other end, why didn’t they refer it?

I’m English by birth but live in Oz, and have followed the Aussie XI since ’89. If anyone wants to know or asks why I absolutely detest the English XI then it is embodied perfectly by day four of test two.

Don’t even get me started on that pillock Flintoff.

Come on Pup & Haddin – this will break them if we can win this.

I wouldn’t call him a cheat. He’s only doing what others have done before. The whole thing lies with the umpire & he has made a massive boo-boo or three. It’s time we used the technology on hand to stop this kind of thing.

Strauss ISN’T a cheat!!

Greg and Trevor Chapel were cheats, Dennis Lillee and Merv Hughes were cheats. Fat-man Warne was (and still is, probably) a cheat..

And I have doubts about Picky Rontings honesty!

Played senior cricket for years – more often you have no idea the ball has bounced – to suggest any player would deliberately claim a catch with the technology today to ‘find them out’ is a stretch.

Strauss legitimately thought he caught the ball. Even the technology could not say he did not.

However, I believe the doubt goes to the batsman – so umpires should give it not out.

The umpire standard is atrocious in cricket at the moment.

I’m an Aussie and I don’t think he’s a cheat. The ball certainly hit the deck but I have little doubt that Strauss though he’d caught it.

I do, however, think that both umpires should be shot for their performance early in Australia’s innings. Fair enough people sometimes make mistakes, but three wickets – imagine what a difference that would make at this point in the game?

Now Binga, you of all cricketers should know that umpires don’t make mistakes. They at times make errors of judgement, like walking on the field.

Wow XP3 since when is complaining about poor decisions a dirty trick.? Problem is the third umpire is a Pom & he SHOULD have told Strauss that Ricky Ponting DID NOT hit the ball in the first innings, but he didn’t.. I wonder why? Who knows how he would have ruled on these decisions. Australia play hard and the other teams don’t like it & confuse confidence with arrogance. The Poms have shown they will do anything to win. Last Ashes used lollies to load the ball, rested their bowlers who were poor fielders and put on a sub who was an excellent fielder. Talk about dirty tricks! Strauss is a South African Who will be #1 if Australia lose?
EDIT: So I see MTBM crawled back from under his rock to make ridiculous accusations, with again no proof of cheating. How about posting a video of all the decisions that India have been given?

crawl back and stop accusing others of cheating , when your team is the biggest cheat in world cricket.

Well if Stauss is a cheat that means almost all the players in international cricket are cheats also.

Players appeal. They don’t make decisions – that’s the job of an umpire.

That said, if a player knowingly claims a grassed catch that is totally cheating. Yet when you’re diving forward it isn’t always as clear cut as a slow motion replay suggests.

I don’t think Strauss would deliberately cheat to win a cricket match – but he would ask the question of the ref (just as Punter would) and let the Umpire with all his technology do his job.

As Strauss did. And the umpire didn’t.

With the amount of scrutiny the Australian team is under from the world press regarding sportsmanship and behaviour, I would think that the English captain should at least be asked why he did not tell the Umpire that he was unsure if the ball carried, which would then have been referred to the third Umpire.
There would have also been teammates in the slips cordon who would have had some doubts.
If this had been Ponting in this situation, then the whole world, including many Australians with tall poppy syndrome would have been screaming for his head.

G.I is the man:

I have played a lot of cricket and there is no doubt you know when you have caught the ball cleanly and you also know when it has bounced, Strauss is Captain and as such should have asked the umpires to have a look at it, there is no way he could have been certain about it, I’m surprised the 12th man and physio didn’t come on the ground to make sure he was OK !!

Players are not cheats – umpires are just inept/corrupt.

You can understand a little bit of controversy…but when it constantly plagues 1 side of a test match you have to start asking questions.

I hope the Aussies pull off a massive upset and win tomorrow – the poms don’t deserve to win and the umpires should be fired.

P.S – Good to still see we still have MBTM to rely on of air headed entertainment

All he had to do was say "Im not 100%, maybe check it upstairs", its that easy, isn’t it. But instead he claimed it, bit hard to believe he was undoubtedly convinced that it hadn’t touched the ground. Bit poor in my view.
